Tally
Terms & Conditions
The terms for organisations and authorised users who access the Tally accounting service.
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Using Tally
These terms apply when an organisation or its authorised users access Tally, a service provided by S & S Dynamics Limited, company number 17502831. By using Tally, you confirm that you are authorised by that organisation and agree to follow these terms.
Your account and responsibilities
- Provide accurate information and keep accounting, company and user records current.
- Protect sign-in details, use access levels appropriately and tell your administrator promptly if an account may have been compromised.
- Use Tally only for lawful business purposes and do not attempt to disrupt, probe, copy or gain unauthorised access to the service.
- Review calculations, coding, VAT treatment and reports before relying on them or sending information to another party.
- Maintain any records and independent backups your organisation is legally required to keep.
HMRC connections and VAT returns
Tally can connect to HMRC when an authorised user completes HMRC’s sign-in and consent process. You must only connect or submit for a business you are authorised to represent.
You are responsible for checking the VAT period, included transactions, VAT treatment and all nine return values. Preparing a return saves the figures for review; it does not submit them. A return is sent only after an authorised user confirms the legal declaration and chooses to submit it. HMRC, not Tally, decides whether to accept a return and how much tax is due.
You must not treat Tally as tax, legal or accounting advice. Obtain professional advice where needed and allow enough time to resolve problems before a filing deadline.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep Tally available and accurate, but access may be interrupted for maintenance, security work, supplier outages or events outside our control. Features may change where needed to improve the service, meet legal requirements or remain compatible with services such as HMRC.
Data and third-party services
Your organisation retains responsibility for information it enters into Tally. You permit us to process that information to provide, secure and support the service. HMRC and Companies House features are also subject to those organisations’ services and terms. Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.
Intellectual property
Tally, its design and its software remain the property of the provider or its licensors. These terms give authorised users a limited, non-transferable right to use the service for their organisation; they do not transfer ownership of the software.
Suspension and ending access
Access may be suspended where reasonably necessary to protect users, data or the service, investigate misuse, comply with law or address a material breach of these terms. Your organisation can ask for its service to end, subject to any separate commercial agreement and legal record-retention requirements.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, we are not responsible for losses caused by inaccurate or incomplete information entered by users, decisions made by HMRC or another third party, missed deadlines where the service was used too late, or events outside our reasonable control. Any other liability is limited to the extent permitted by law and any separate written agreement with your organisation.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
